The Canning Room

We offer a facility, resources, training and supplies for volunteers to can meat.

Our objectives are to support ongoing local food pantry needs and their distribution partners, provide food relief immediately following a natural disaster, and supply protein to malnourished people in 3rd world countries.

​Why canned meat?

• Canned meat has a long shelf life and cans are durable for shipping
• Easily transported and stored without temperature control
• Can be positioned for immediate disaster relief
• Shelf stability makes it feasible in under-developed areas that don’t have freezers/coolers or a consistent electric supply
• Meat is fully cooked and can be eaten directly from the can or with minimal preparation
